With Others...
The following are selected works with other architects
Pine VI project in Inverness, CA by Daniel Liebermann of Berkeley, CA. This is one of 7 small structures for the rather steep and dramatic site. The project is a rebuilding of two residences and various out buildings after The Inverness Ridge fire of 1995. The project is now growing slowly out of the hill.
The timber was harvested and milled on site from its large, burned Douglas Firs (bottom). The stone work is really just GABION walls filled with broken concrete slab material from other burned houses on the ridge (top). We have Brian Pihl to thank for transforming this rather ugly material into serpentine, ashlar sculptures.
The ever clever Henry Sandy Jacobs has transformed the upper-most building into "a real trip, mon" with his surreal presence and also his surreal belongings.
Ditto.....mon.
Already there are wonderful moments scattered all over the site. Some accidental, some deliberate, some just plain weird...
...and some; romantic. By the way, the steps are pieces of I-80. Romantic huh?

The Monona Terrace Convention Center in Madison, WI. The first architectural project that Barry Peterson was involved with as an apprentice at Taliesin. It was designed and re-designed by Frank Lloyd Wright numerous time since its genesis in 1938. The project was finally realized and opened in 1997. (rendering by Jim Anderson)
The project is a masterstroke of urban planning. This one building is ultimately responsible for turning the isthmus city of Madison around to finally engage the "other" lake--Lake Monona.
Peterson spent a fair amount of time with the interior finishes on this project, as well as with construction administration tasks--working from the Madison office of TA.
Does this form look a little familiar?
